Last Saturday I was admitted as a Candidate for Holy Orders by Bishop Hebda, Bishop of the Diocese of Gaylord. The Rite of Admission to Candidacy for Holy Orders is celebrated when a seminarian has reached a maturity of purpose in his formation and has demonstrated the necessary qualifications for ordination. In the presence of the bishop, he publicly expresses his intention to complete his preparation for ordination and his resolve to fully invest himself to that end.
Bishop came to Sacred Heart Parish in Oscoda for the ceremony. He was also there to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Knights of Columbus. It was a combination of events since the Knights are such great supporters of vocations. Four other priests concelebrated the Mass with Bishop Hebda, Fr. Donajkowski, Fr. Geyman, Fr. Heider, and Fr. Brucksch.
My mom, dad, sisters and grandparents were also there.
It was a wonderful day! It was really great to make a public promise to continue my discernment and formation of the priesthood. Pray for me that I can continue to discern the priesthood...
